What Are Your Favourite Books?

I have been a little lax in reading books from my list over the past thirteen or twelve months.  When I tried to get back in the swing of things, I remembered why that was the case.  I simply can't find some of these titles.  Whilst I expected some difficulty finding a few, I had no idea so many of them would hard for me to get.  I have tried interlibrary loan, several times, skimmed stacks of garage sale books, and called everyone I know who owns a book on the off chance someone had a copy down the back of the sofa.
Buying books is not an option for me right now, so I have decided I must replace some of the titles from my original list.  I am going to start with ten, but that number may go as high as thirty.  So I am asking you all for your recommendations, any genre welcome.

Help me Obi-Wan, you are my only hope.

I don't recognize many of the titles on your list, so maybe they are a bit obscure?

Here are a random ten from my Favorites list, which I think should be easy-ish to find.

1. The White Woman on the Green Bicycle by Monique Roffey
2. A Student of Weather by Elizabeth Hay
3. The Stroy Sisters by Alice Hoffman
4. The Electric Michelangelo by Sarah Hall
5. The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery
6. Breathing Lessons by Anne Tyler
7. A Complicated Kindness by Miriam Toews
8. Double Bind by Chris Bohjalian
9. Spiritwalk by Charles de Lint
10. Bones of the Moon by Jonathan Carroll

And if you've never read Virginia Woolf, F. Scott Fitzgerald, or W. Somerset Maugham, I highly recommend them. Classics should be readily available from the library.

Hello there! I'd love to help you out, but I don't want to waste our collective time suggesting books that you don't already own or that are difficult to find at the library. So my idea is this one: buddy up to the librarians & find out which books they suggest. As a whole, librarians love to read plus they can check which books they have on hand while you're there. Good luck.

Well one of my all time favourite books is 'the book thief' by Marcus Zusak!

If you like high fantasy with strong female lead - 'the gift' by Alison Croggon is excellent too
